The Day
Building wealth for everyone.
Villa Rosa was built in 1870s by the Oak Bluffs Land and Wharf Company. It later belonged to Joe Overton, a Harlem union organizer and president of the NAACP's New York chapter, who kept it open to anyone who needed a bed on the Island. Martin Luther King Jr. stayed here. So did Malcolm X, Adam Clayton Powell Jr., Harry Belafonte and Joe Louis. People called it the Summer White House. The billiard table King played on is still on the third floor.

TekTrek is a round trip. After ten weeks trekking in San Francisco, the cohort comes east to close the summer.
